Synaptic Trend is an advanced, non-repainting trend and momentum indicator inspired by biological neural systems. It models market behavior as a network of interacting neurons, where price, volatility, and adaptive learning work together to generate high-quality trading signals. Instead of relying on static thresholds, Synaptic Trend continuously learns from market conditions, adjusting its sensitivity in real time.
At its core, the indicator uses two exponential moving averages on a selectable timeframe: a presynaptic EMA (fast response) and a postsynaptic EMA (slow response). Their volatility-normalized difference forms a membrane potential, representing directional pressure. This potential is passed through a sigmoid function, compressing extreme values and stabilizing signals across different market regimes.
When the membrane potential exceeds a dynamically adjusted threshold, the neuron “fires.” Positive firings produce excitatory spikes (bullish signals), while negative firings produce inhibitory spikes (bearish signals). Each firing releases a simulated neurotransmitter, which decays over time and feeds into an adaptive synaptic weight. This weight evolves using synaptic plasticity logic, allowing the indicator to self-optimize by strengthening reliable signals and dampening noisy ones.
All calculations are based on closed bars from the selected timeframe, ensuring stable, non-repainting output. Integrated alert logic triggers only on confirmed direction changes, making the indicator suitable for automation, discretionary trading, and signal services.
Primary Signals:
Blue (excitatory) histogram spikes indicate bullish pressure and potential buy setups.
Pink (inhibitory) histogram spikes indicate bearish pressure and potential sell setups.
Trend Confirmation: Follow signals that align with the dominant membrane potential direction and sustained neurotransmitter activity.
Adaptive Filtering: In choppy markets, synaptic weight naturally reduces sensitivity, filtering false signals. In strong trends, signals become more responsive.
Multi-Timeframe Bias: Run Synaptic Trend on a higher timeframe to define bias, then execute entries on a lower timeframe using price action or arrow indicators.
Exit & Risk Management: Weakening membrane potential, shrinking spikes, or opposite firings can be used as early exit or partial close signals.
Alerts & Automation: Enable pop-up, sound, email, or push alerts for hands-free monitoring and EA integration.
Synaptic Trend is best suited for traders seeking intelligent, adaptive trend detection that evolves with the market rather than reacting mechanically.
